![]() ![]() You may have heard about our gumball machines - each time we learn a new fact, students take a 2-minute timed quiz for that particular times table. The kids were SO THRILLED to see her, and I know they are so excited to have one of their favorite teachers all over again for a few months! In math we wrapped up our multiplication 0-5 unit and ended the week with an assessment. Palizza join us on Monday and Thursday to get a feel for what we're up to in grade 3, and to ease the transition when I leave on maternity leave in a few weeks. ![]() Monday, November 21 - Last week we had Mrs. I will miss everyone, but I know the kids are in the absolute best of hands. Palizza was able to come in a sub for me on Tuesday, which was a fun way to get everyone acclimated to next week's change! This will be my last week in the classroom until March. In social studies we also wrapped up our map skills unit, and in religion we learned all about the liturgical season of Advent, and made Advent wreaths. We worked on identifying and fixing run-on sentences, and then reviewed all of the concepts we have learned so far this year before taking our first grammar test. In Language Arts, we wrapped up our sentences unit. We learned about the historical fiction genre, and how it is similar and different from both realistic fiction and nonfiction. ![]() In reading we wrapped up our Reading Street unit with the story "William's House." We focused specifically on cause and effect, sequencing, and using context clues to decode unfamiliar vocabulary. We are going to learn facts 0-5 to complement the work we did with multiplication facts 0-5, before moving back to multiplication facts 6-10 in the coming weeks. It was great to be back for a full five-day week last week as we began the liturgical season of Advent. Monday, December 5 - I hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving celebration with their loved ones. ![]()
